Ibrahim Zadran’s Early Life

Ibrahim Zadran is a right-hand opener batsman who played several matches for the Afghanistan team at the international level. He first came to the limelight when he scored 87 runs against Pakistan in the 2023 ODI World Cup
Ibrahim started a career in cricket at a young age of just 10 years. He gain confidence and dedication to become a cricketer while seeing his uncle Noor Ali Zadran playing against India in the 2010 T20 World Cup.
From that, he worked hard and set his aim to play an innings like his uncle for his country. After seeing his interest in cricket he was later trained in his family’s 2000 sq.ft farm in Khost, Afghanistan.
Where trained and played with his cousins along with Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who later also played for the Afghanistan national team as well.

Domestic Career
He made his List A debut for Mis Ainak Region in the 2017 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One-Day Tournament on 11 August 2017 against Band-e-Amir Region, where he scored 32 runs and bowled two overs with no wickets.
On 12 September 2017, he made his debut in T20 Cricket for Mis Ainak Knights against Band-e-Amir Region in the 2017 Shpageeza Cricket League, where he bowled and conceded 8 runs in an over without any wicket.

In March 2018, he played his First-Class match for the Band-e-Amir Region against Amo Region in the Alokozay Ahmed Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament, scoring 9 runs in the first innings and 16 runs in the second innings.
He was also selected in the Nangarh Leopard’s squad for the first edition of the Afghanistan Premier League Tournament in September 2018.

In 2023, he represented Fortune Barishal in the Bangladesh Premier League where he smashed 215 runs in 8 matches with the highest score of 52 runs.
In 2021 he played for Boyne Hill in the Thames Valley Cricket League, Berkshire, where he scored 479 runs in 15 matches.

International Career
He was added to the squad of the Afghanistan team for the 2018 U-19 Cricket World Cup, and he was the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 186 runs for his team.
He also represented the Afghanistan U-23 team in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup in 2018. In the 2020 U-19 Cricket World Cup he also scored 240 runs for the Afghanistan team in five matches.

He made his Test Debut against Bangladesh in their one-only test on 5 September 2019, where he managed to score 21 runs in the first innings and 87 runs in the second innings and registered his maiden test fifty.
Ibrahim Zadran ODI career
In the following month, he was selected for the West Indies Series. He made his ODI debut against West Indies on 11 November 2019, after which he also made his T20 debut against West Indies on 14 November 2019.
He made his first century in ODI cricket against Zimbabwe on 6 June 2022, scoring 121 runs. In the following year, he also made his second ODI century against Sri Lanka with 106 runs in Pallekelle and won the player of the match award.

In the third match of the same series against Sri Lanka, he smashed a magnificent 162 runs and marked the highest by a player from his country in this format.
In that series, he scored 278 runs at an average of 92.66 and won the Player of the Series award.
On 2 June 2023, he made his maiden ODI fifty against Sri Lanka with 98 runs in the first match of the series in Hambantota. In that series, he showed his consistency and scored consecutive runs in the four matches 106, 10, 162, and 98.
He made his World Cup debut against Bangladesh in the 2023 Cricket World Cup in India scoring 22 runs of 24 balls.

In his second match in the World Cup 2023 against Pakistan, he played a brilliant knock of 87 runs off 113 balls and was selected as player of the match.
In a match against Australia in ODI World Cup 2023 he made 129 runs not out and allowed his team to set a target of 292 runs, whereas in the last his team faced defeat due to Maxwell’s great knock of 201 runs.
He made his T20 debut on 14 November 2019 against West Indies at Lucknow, India, and scored only 2 runs. He made his first half-century on 8 September 2022 against India with 64 runs.
In the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, Ibrahim Zadran played 3 matches and scored 80 runs with an average of 26.67 and a strike rate of 96.39.

In the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, he smashed a brilliant knock of 177 runs off 146 balls against England at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, and became the youngest player in Champions Trophy history to score a century.
